Come and join the Theatre of the Year 2022. There has never been a better time to join The Marlowe. We have come through the Covid crisis, our audiences are back, and we have been recognised in The Stage Awards for our innovative approach to supporting our industry’s recovery. Our sights are now set on an ambitious future. At the same time, we are investing in our People Plan to ensure our high calibre team are rewarded and supported.
The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury is one of this country’s most successful large-scale independent theatres, with a 1,200-seat Main House, a 150-seat Studio and The Marlowe Kit, home of our youth company.
We present a year-round programme of national touring productions across a range of artforms including theatre, dance, opera, and music, in our 1,200-seat Main House and we develop and present work in our 150-seat Studio. Since becoming a self-funding independent charitable trust in 2018 we have begun to develop a more mixed economy, with a 5-year plan to commission and produce work at all scales alongside the presented programme. Supporting artists, engaging with our communities, and developing the creative lives of the next generation are central to our mission to be the engine house for the performing arts in our region and to shape the spirit of Kent.
We are seeking a Learning and Participation (L & P) Producer to produce from concept to delivery, a range of L & P performances and public events with young people, schools, and communities of Kent. The L & P Producer will build operational relationships with key partners including resident and associate companies, visiting companies, freelance artists, theatre makers as well across the internal teams ensuring safety and cost is not compromised and that the programme is communicated widely alongside the full Marlowe offering.
You will have excellent project management and planning skills coupled with equally effective communication skills. Being collaborative, proactive, creative, great with young people and vulnerable adults, and problem solving is key, underpinned by good knowledge of producing in community and educational settings, appreciating health and safety, safeguarding and best practice in community arts. This role requires a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
We want to work with people who are passionate about their work, resilient in the face of any challenge that comes their way and supportive of their colleagues.
The Marlowe is an inclusive employer. We value difference and recruit by merit based on fair and open competition. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, neurodiversity, disability status, citizenship, or any other aspect which makes them unique.
We are a Creative Green organisation and are committed to acting on climate change and environmental sustainability.
Previous applicants are encouraged to reapply, however if you were previously interviewed, we will contact you directly.
Interviews will take place Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 October 2022
