Canterbury Environment Company is a new local authority trading company wholly owned by Canterbury City Council to deliver Waste Collection and Street Cleansing services within the Canterbury district. The establishment of Canterbury Environment Company marks a new chapter for the City Council, with the service being provided by an outsourced, privately-owned, company for over the past two decades.
Your key responsibilities will include financial procedures using the company’s finance system – Xero, and you’ll work closely with the Finance and Administration Manager to develop financial reporting processes. You should therefore have strong financial or bookkeeping skills and experience/qualifications. You’ll have dealt with purchasing, invoices and financial reporting in a previous role. You’ll need an understanding of the principles of financial management for a small to medium company as well as knowledge of company statutory returns.
You’ll have experience of working as an Administrator in a busy office environment and will be a self-starter. Having the skills to make you capable of independent working, you’ll be able to take the initiative as well as being a strong and reliable team-player. Experience of streamlining and developing administration processes and systems would be an advantage in this role.
