As a project manager within our Property Service, you will oversee a portfolio of high-profile corporate projects. Your focus will be on projects related to the council's corporate buildings, offices, and depots.
These are newly created roles to help the council deliver its ambitious programme. Particular expertise in property and construction, decarbonisation or organisational transformation would be an advantage.
We have a Local Plan for growth, a £70m regeneration programme and an ambitious £100m affordable housing programme. We are also planning the major rationalisation of our office and depot space across the district to make it ready to meet the challenges of the future. Thanet District Council’s Tenant and Leaseholder Services is recruiting. We are looking for a motivated professional to join our amazing team. We are looking for a Rent Officer to support our tenants in paying their rent. As a team we are developing and improving our service, making this a great opportunity to feed into and drive forward your own improvements and to be part of something bigger.We are looking for someone that is compassionate, organised and understands the diverse needs of tenants that may be struggling financially. You do not necessarily need to have experience in housing but if you can demonstrate drive and enthusiasm to deliver great customer service, are passionate about service improvement and have an eye for detail then we want to hear from you.Main Duties: To contact and negotiate with tenants who are in debt on their rent account. Identify other issues that may be affecting the tenants ability to pay the rent and other bills and address these by working in a co-ordinated and joined up way with other officers, council services and external services, signposting and making referrals where appropriate.
Tasks will include: Assessing rent accounts and payment patterns of tenants to identify where contact is needed.The service of notices, applications to court and booking evictions where necessary.Investigate the reason for non payment with the tenants and refer to our financial wellbeing team for extra support where needed.Use knowledge of Universal Credit and the overall welfare benefits system to make sure tenants have the right income they need to be able to pay the rent and all other bills. Thanet District Council has seen a rise in the number of homeless households approaching us for assistance. This is due to a number of factors including the increasing costs of privately rented properties and a reduced supply of suitable accommodation. To assist households who are experiencing homelessness we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Temporary Accommodation Team.
You will be responsible for managing the daily operation of the Council’s temporary accommodation units, and you will also be required to provide support to the residents who are in temporary accommodation.
We have recently completed the refurbishment of our temporary accommodation building and this role will take on the management of that building, along with other identified properties. You will be required to assist tenants to move in and out as required, take inventories and ensure agencies are aware of the tenants moving on. You will make regular visits and inspections to accommodation to ensure the property is in good order and instruct any repairs or redecoration as necessary.
This role will also involve office based duties, dealing with telephone and personal enquires, providing housing advice and dealing with all aspects of office administration to ensure the effective delivery of the temporary accommodation service.
Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment checks.

We are looking for a resourceful individual to join as our Junior Finance Business Partner and provide support across the Finance, Procurement and Risk function. We are looking for an experienced individual to support the Facilities cleaning team to provide a prompt, efficient cleaning service to our customers. . Provide good quality office cleaning services within the Council and to work in and be part of a team with a flexible attitude. To clean floors using industrial machinery, and have experience with using cleaning chemicals and an awareness of COSHH . You may be required to secure the site using the alarm codes and keys provided, and undertake such training as is deemed necessary

We are seeking a creative, organised and motivated Communications Officer to support the delivery of a joined up, proactive and efficient corporate communications service within Thanet District Council.
The ideal candidate will be a natural storyteller with a passion for writing, and excited about promoting the council’s services to its 140,000 residents and stakeholders. You will have proven communications and media handling experience and be looking to take your career forward within a dynamic, friendly and supportive team.
The role is diverse and fast-paced, requiring expertise across the communications portfolio. You will be curious, with a nose for identifying stories and a natural flair for generating content for a range of audiences using external communications channels, including news articles, newsletters, web copy, social media and press releases. Reporting to the Senior Communications Officer, you will build strong working relationships with internal and external peers, working with the team to deliver a multi-channel communications programme. Thanet District Council is looking for a motivated Fire Safety Surveyor to join its Private Sector Housing Team.The council, as the local housing authority for Thanet, has a duty to ensure that residents living in the private sector are protected from unsafe housing. This role will support that duty by investigating the fire safety arrangements in medium rise residential buildings, in collaboration with our colleagues from the Kent Fire & Rescue Service.The postholder will undertake a whole district survey to identify private residential accommodation above 11 metres in height, with a view to establishing whether there are any such buildings that have combustible external cladding.
